Nomad is proud to support the following charities, among others:
Formerly known as Dress for Success, Smartworks provides high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to out-of-work women on low incomes. They do a fantastic job of instilling women with the confidence they need to interview well and get great jobs.
Nomad has been helping Smartworks since 2011, mainly by providing free storage, as well as some transport services. This helps the dedicated team at Smartworks to manage with limited space in their London offices, and gives them the breathing space they need to sort through their donated clothing consignments and prepare them for use by their clients.
Sara’s Hope Foundation
Sara’s Hope Foundation is a wonderful charity which runs a holiday retreat in Crete, Greece offering respite for children and young people with cancer and their families. The charity is run by Ged and Julie Hoburn and named in honour of their daughter Sara, who tragically lost a two year battle with a rare form of colon cancer at the age of sixteen in 2001. The community in western Crete are very supportive of Sara’s Hope too, and Nomad is proud to be able to help them occasionally with transport services.
Almyrida Annual Christmas Party / Winter Fayre
The Almyrida Winter Fayre has become a tradition in Crete since its inception seven years ago, going from strength to strength and raising more than €6,000 for local charities last year. The local charities benefiting from this amazing event include the Red Cross, the Samaritans, Helping Hands, Vamos & Armeni Health Centres, local schools, KIFAAMEA, ELEPAP and the Alzheimer’s Centre. Nomad provides free transport for some of the supplies needed for the event (which come from the UK), as well as donating prizes for the auction.
